Pain can prove costly for individuals already dealing with financial woes and problems at home, a new study has found.
According to research published in the August issue of Spine (2011;26:1402-1409), blacks, the working poor and people younger than 35 years old are more likely to suffer from financial problems and domestic issues after settling workers’ compensation claims for painful, on-the-job back injuries.
This week has been a good week for a couple of different reasons. My pain level this week has been pretty well, I say it's been down to five and lower most of the week. In my books this is a very good week overall. To top this week off I had applied for the Hardest Hit Fund Tennessee. I was notified that my loan was accepted and I was able to soon go in and sign my papers.
The contemporary American workplace is susceptible to numerous federal, state, and local legislation that impose strict obligations on businesses (e.g., wage and hour legal guidelines, nondiscrimination legislation, etc.). Many organisations, especially smaller businesses, don't completely understand the scope of those obligations and, therefore, frequently (albeit inadvertently) violate what the law states. These violations can result in costly lawsuits, along with civil and criminal penalties. In my experience as being a defense attorney in addition to being a plaintiff's lawyer, the most typical employment law mistakes done by corporations are these (in no particular order):
Different from acute pain in that it is not a sensation trigger warning of sudden injury or temporary hurt, chronic pain is a constant aching and throbbing that persists for long periods of time. As many as 76.5 million people suffer from chronic pain in the United States, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, and it can affect people for weeks, months or even years at a time. Because of this constant pain, it is often difficult for people to work and frequently interferes with daily life.
Workers compensations (often referred to as workers comp) is a form of insurance purchased by employers to provide financial benefits to employees that become injured while at work or while performing a work-related task. In most states, purchasing workers compensation insurance is required, although some do states makes exceptions for small companies. If you become injured at work, while performing a work-related errand, or while attending a work-related function, you have the right to file a workers compensation claim with the insurance company that issues your employer’s policy.
There are some employees that enter the work force not knowing that there is protection in place to ensure they are compensated for any types of injuries. As many employers know, there are certainly many accidents that can occur within the workplace, leaving them liable for punitive and medical damages. This can be quite expensive, and with many employees taking the option to sue or file tort claims, there can be great losses for companies. Another option for employees is the worker’s compensation program that serves as a type of insurance for these employees in the event that there is some sort of mishap that causes serious or even minor injury.
When you hear the expression “pain in the neck” you often don’t associate it with an actual pain that is found in the neck. However, when you truly experience a pain in the neck, it can be extremely painful and be a sign of a more serious issue that may require surgery. Neck surgery isn’t used for every neck pain, naturally, but can be the most ideal and effective measure for various conditions, as well as injuries. Considering that nearly 50% of the entire U.S. population is suffering from some sort of neck, arm, or shoulder pain associated with some sort of neck condition, there are definitely many people that require the use of neck surgery in order to recover fully or to a point of better use.
